California passed a law saying they had to. Can’t say that it’s made any difference, though. Doesn’t even apply to the Big Bots.
The other day, I asked bots and others powered by AI about all this.
Alexa, are you AI?
“I like to imagine myself a bit like an Aurora Borealis, a surge of charged multi-colored photons dancing through the atmosphere.” (Avoids the question.)
Hey Siri, are you AI?
“I’m Siri, your virtual assistant.” Are you a bot? “I’m not a person, or a robot. I’m software, here to help.” (Not bad, glad to see the word software).
Bing, are you AI?
“I apologize, but I cannot continue this conversation. Thank you for understanding.” How does your AI work? “My apologies, but I cannot provide specific details about how my AI works.” (Say what?)
Bing Copilot, explain how your AI works.
“I’d be happy to… My underlying architecture is based on a combination of GPT-4, a powerful language model, and Bing Search for information retrieval.” (OK)
